Our Vegetables
Fresh vegetables grown without the use of harmful pesticides, herbicides or artificial fertilisers – that’s what we’re aiming for at Farrington’s. In fact, all you have to wash off our vegetables is the soil!
- Grown naturally
Using a completely natural fertiliser, courtesy of the cows, gets everything off to a really good start. But how do we make sure that our vegetables look every bit as good as they taste? Well, we grow them a bit further apart to discourage insect pests and rotate our crops to reduce the risk of disease.
- More than 100 varieties
Currently, we have 35 acres with Soil Association approved organic status. In addition to a wide range of traditional vegetables (around 35 different varieties), we’re also growing some more colourful crops – and we’re especially big on purple!
- Something different!
At the right time of year, you can buy purple sprouts – a great talking point at Christmas! – as well as carrots, cauliflowers, spring onions, cabbage and sweetcorn with a purple hue.
- Vegetable Opportunities
Organic vegetables from our farm are extensively used by caterers who care and also sold by a few selected retailers outside the area of the farm shop. If you are interested in purchasing larger quantities of organic vegetables, call us on 01761 452266.
